Inquiring Minds Bookstore in Downtown, New Paltz has jumped into The Village Grind January Strava Segment Challenge. Last night, the independent bookstore, offered up a prize for segment-goers to win free books for a year.
Now the fine print: That equals one book a month, for a year, The book can be up to $20. So, a new hardcover may be out, but Grinders like a paperback so they can walk and run and read at the same time.
There are now 3 Prizes (and more coming soon) for those that complete the most segments of the New Paltz Village Grind January Strava Challenge. The segment is .45 miles long and begins at Village Grind sign at the corner of Prospect St. and Main St. and ends at the Village Grind sign (next to the Trailways Bus Station)
In an ode to the segment’s name, The Village Grind is offering free coffee and scones for a year (52 of each, or one a week) to the individual who completes the most segments by January 31st.
The route takes walkers/runners right into the heart of downtown, past P&G’s (who is offering free burgers for a year (one burger a week) and Inquiring Minds, who is now offering food for the brain.

It’s not too late. We have 13 days to Grind and more prizes are on their way! The Committee is conferring and debating the creation of different categories for prizes (i.e. Overall Male, Overall Female.)
As it stands now, the top 2 overall Grinders (or individuals that complete the most segments between January 6th and January 31st at exactly 11:59pm) will win either 1) Free Coffee & Scones for a year or 2) Free Burgers for a year. The overall winner will decide if they want coffee or burgers and the 2nd place finisher will receive the other prize.
The new prize has not yet landed in a category. Once the Committee hashes out the details on how to award this generous gift, Grinders will be informed.
